About Aegirex

Aegirex is not an anonymous product backed by an opaque multinational. It is a project carried out in the open, in France, under a free licence anyone can audit.

Why Aegirex

I spent a decade building B2B SaaS platforms for French clients: healthcare, training, business services. The finding was always the same: the password vaults in use are American, their architecture forces trust in the vendor, and organisations with a sovereignty requirement have no credible option.

Aegirex is my answer: a vault technically incapable of reading your secrets, designed to be audited by your CISO in under a day, hostable at the SecNumCloud-compatible operator of your choice, and whose entire codebase is under AGPLv3 on GitHub.

No venture capitalist lurking in the wings who will tomorrow impose a "monetisation" degrading the promise. No planned pivot. The business model is public from day one: annual subscription per active user, financing development and hosting, full stop.

Why "Aegirex"?

A name that says what the product does (protect) and what it makes possible: sovereignty.

Aegis Ancient Greek · αἰγίς

The aegis, the protective shield of Zeus in Greek mythology. An absolute defensive symbol: what it covers cannot be reached. Root of the modern phrase "under the aegis of".

Rex Latin · rēx

The king, the sovereign. The one who governs without higher authority. Today, sovereignty is not won by force: it is preserved through control over one's data.

Aegirex = the sovereign shield. A promise in two words: we protect your secrets (Aegis), you keep decision-making power over your data (Rex). No non-European third party can be compelled to hand them over.

Mission

Enable every French and European organisation to deploy a secrets manager without giving up either its data sovereignty or the user experience it expects from a modern tool. Without having to choose between a convenient but legally risky American product and a French tool that looks like 1995.

What will never change

Sovereignty

European hosting exclusively. No sub-processor subject to the CLOUD Act can access the data. Compatible with SecNumCloud-qualified hosts.

Zero-knowledge

The server is technically unable to read your secrets. Not a marketing promise: a cryptographic guarantee verifiable in the source code.

Open source AGPLv3

The code is public, auditable, forkable. If Aegirex disappears tomorrow, your deployment keeps running. You are never locked in.

Honesty

No gratuitous buzzwords. If a certification has not been obtained, we say so. If a feature is not ready, we say so. Marketing will never get ahead of the product.
